The Function of a Hole Punch

Why Not Use a Hole Punch?
Hole Punched Id California
Though it’s a popular choice among ID badge wearers, there are some who are particularly adverse to adding a hole punch for the following reasons:
- They are very pleased with their card design and don’t want to tamper with it by adding a hole.
- They need to swipe their card through a card reader and don’t want it attached to an accessory.
- They are concerned that the hole punch will weaken the card and break where the hole is.
- They have a design that requires the entire service of the card be viewable.
Some organizations work around the hole punch issue by using other types of badge accessories that don’t require a hole punch. For instance, the badge can be placed in a badge sleeve which protects the card and offers an alternative clipping solution. The clip or lanyard can be attached to the holder instead of the card itself. Alternatively, there are other attachment options that don’t require a hole such as a magnetic clip or gripper attachment.

This is notice to you that your license is only valid for 60 days (unless you challenge the DOL action). The punching of the license does not by itself invalidate your license as you can still drive until DOL takes action.
